2010 Summer Vacation - Wisconsin Dells, The Wilderness
Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Family Fun Main Page Home Page
First Day - Arrival, Lake Wilderness, The Wild West, A Deluge, The Cabin, Moose Jaw Pizza and some very happy campers
This summer our Group 88 spent a long weekend at the Wilderness in the Wisconsin Dells. Last year three of the families went to Grand Haven, Michigan. We dropped the dogs at the kennel and took the southern route to the Dells via LaCrosse. We arrived around lunch time and had Culver's, which is always a good choice. Our family arrived first and got our water passes and spent most of the rest of the afternoon at Lake Wilderness. As the afternoon passed, Margaret, Isabel and Nora arrived followed shortly by Craig,Deb and Mikayla. We stayed at the outdoor water park for a little while, but decided to head into the Wild West Indoor Water Park as the clouds were starting to thicken up. This turned out to be a good decision as a torrential downpour outside soon followed. It was so bad that we just waited it out. The kids did not mind in the least and splish splashed around on the slides and fountains. When the rain subsided, we headed for our cabin to settle in. Cabin is not adequate. House would be much more appropriate. It was beautiful, with a nice open living room and kitchen area. There were two bedrooms downstairs and two bedroom up stairs. The basement was finished and had a foosball and a killer media room. We decided to go to the Moose Jaw Pizza Factory for dinner, but it was very crowded. We ended up taking our pizza to go. When we got back, it was not much longer until Dan, Susan, Patric, Macy and Mia arrived to make our group complete. The kids had a blast just playing and of course did not want to go to bed. Eventually, they did and Maddy had her first "sleep-over" as she shared a bunk bed in another room with Mia. Meanwhile the adults sampled good conversation, coffee and a showing of Indiana Jones in the Media room to cap off a tremendous first day.
