Mall of America, Twirling Lessons, Caponi Art Park, Como Zoo, U of M and Soccer
When Grandma Susie and Grandpa Tom come for a visit it is fun for us and very exciting for the kids. We talk with them each week but only get to see them twice a year - three times if we are extremely lucky. Last year we got very busy with our retaining wall project - this year the mandate was simple - we will have fun. That is exactly what we did as we put a moratorium on anything that resembled a project or work. We were busy! We went to the Mall of America, took a trip to Clarkfield for Uncle Denny and Aunt Mary Jo's 50th Wedding Anniversary. Maddy had her first official baton and her first official twirling from the grand champion master herself - Grandma Susie. We also discovered a new treat to us. We went Caponi Art Park in Eagan. What a nice place with lots of interesting art and scenic walks through the woods. The kids loved the giant swing that was suspended from one of the huge oaks. I also took some time off of work and we had a fun day that included a trip to the Como Zoo and a tour of the U of M campus. We also managed a quick drive by the new Twins stadium (Target Field). We got lucky as Grandma and Grandpa were in town long enough to see the last of Maddy's soccer games for the season.
