Gardening is an important part of our lives. We appreciate the beauty of the garden and the joy of working with nature.

Garden Highlights 2011

Plants are really starting to mature. Less time for maintenance, but some of the plants themselves are coming into their own.
Garden Highlights 2010

Lots of Diversity in plantings starting to come into bloom. Fresh mulch, garden looks better than ever at our new home..
Garden Highlights 2008 - 2009

Not a lot of pictures from this time period. 2008 was a transition to our new house. 2009 was the year of the retaining wall.
Garden Highlights 2007

The last full year of gardening at our old house. The gardens are at their prime. The last year of working in the clay.
Garden Highlights 2006

This is the year that we put up the rainbow play-set for Maddy and also did a lot of clean-up in the existing gardens.
Garden Highlights 2005

Numerous projects completed this year. Including removal of the dreaded raspberry patch and improvements to the Asian garden.
Garden Highlights 2004

Cleared out the side yard by the garage and created the Asian Garden. Also created a raised garden in the back.
Garden Highlights 2003

This is the year we completed the Arbor Gate near the storage shed and also did a major re-planting in the cottage garden.
Garden Highlights 2002

Added the water gardens and a border of annuals along the long fence of the cottage garden.
The Early Years of the Garden

We transformed a grassy area into a large English cottage garden. We also fenced to keep the dogs and rabbits out..

Great Perennial Trading Party

A wonderful bi-annual affair, where people being in their extra perennials for trading with other people. Hundreds attend.

2011 was limited in what we could get done. However, we did see some progress in terms of maturation of some of the species we had planted in the first few years at our new house. There is now more spring bloomers, which means the garden has color longer. There highlight is the beautiful Hope for Humanity Rose bush that is next to our from porch. It has grown significantly since we first planted it. It also has blooms most of the mid to late summer..

Garden Projects Completed

  1. More plantings on the side of the house. A nice combination of hostas and lilies now lines the family room side of the house.
